The other day, a customer emailed me and asked a question about the attachments in her email. She was seeing the attachments embedded in the body of the email instead of in the Attachments area below the subject line. She wanted to know why that happened, and how she could get it fixed.

First, here’s what an embedded file looks like in an email:
Normally, the file shows up in the Attached field under the Subject line:
With the email message open, click the dropdown arrow on the attachment and select Remove Attachment. Working with hyperlinks in Outlook 2016. I copied the html from the received email inside Outlook and pasted it into the editor like above. That did not screw up the layout as before.
The reason for the change in behavior is that your email formatting has been changed from HTML to Rich Text:
When the setting is Rich Text, all attachments are placed within the body of the email, and you can determine where they are placed by putting your cursor where you want the attachment to show up. If you want the attachments to show up in the Attached field, just change the setting to be HTML.
If you want to fix that for all emails, go to the Outlook Options by selecting File > Options, and make the following setting change:

How to add an email account to Outlook on your PC
1. Click 'File' in the top-left, and then click 'Add Account.'

If it's a straightforward webmail account (like Gmail), Outlook can usually do it automatically. If you're configuring an IMAP or Microsoft Exchange account, though, it's often faster to choose to do it manually.

4. Follow the remaining instructions to configure the account. Depending on the type of email account you're adding, you may need to specify the incoming and outgoing email server names, port numbers and encryption methods. You can get all these details from your email provider's website or technical support. If you are adding an Exchange server to Outlook, you might need to get the details from your IT department or network administrator.

1. Open up Outlook on your Mac and click 'Outlook' in the menu bar at the top-left of the screen.
