How To Add New Mouth Shapes In Papagayo For Mac

Papagayo is a lip-syncing program to help you line up phonemes (mouth shapes) with audio files. Load audio and enter the appropriate dialog, then drag the words and syllables into place while checking the audio for each sound. It is possible to preview the eyelid, eyeball and head movement, facial expression and mouth shape. All adjustments can be easily rolled back, thanks to its built-in buttons.

Terry Hancock from the Lunatics project made a tutorial showing how to use our build of Papagayo to create lipsync animation. If you have found a spelling error, please, notify us by selecting that text and pressing Ctrl+Enter.

Today on The Omni Show, we talk with Sal Soghoian. Sal joined Apple Inc. in January 1997 to serve as the Product Manager Automation Technologies Worldwide. For two decades, those technologies included AppleScript, Automator, Services, the Terminal, and Apple Configurator, among others. His journey then led him to join forces with the Omni Group to work on the ambitious Omni Automation framework implemented throughout the entire product suite.

In this episode, Sal shares equal parts inspiration and education: He gives details of his journey that led him from Apple to the Omni Group. He reasons through the power and potential of automation. He also shares about why the cross-platform automation that the Omni Group has recently implemented is SUCH a big deal.

Papagayo version 2.0b1 is now available! Although the application appears much the same as the version 1 series, this is a complete rewrite. Papagayo 1.0 was kind of an experiment in Python application development, and although it worked, it was kind of slow and hard to maintain.

New

Papagayo 2.0 has been rewritten to be cleaner, faster, and more stable. Papagayo 2.0 is currently in a beta stage, and there’s still more work to do. But if you’re an existing user I think you’ll find it worth trying out the beta. Depending on the level of interest we see in Papagayo 2.0, there’s a big list of possible enhancements that we could start adding. So let us know what you think!

What is Papagayo?

Papagayo is a lip-syncing program designed to help you line up phonemes (mouth shapes) with the actual recorded sound of actors speaking. Papagayo makes it easy to lip sync animated characters by making the process very simple – just type in the words being spoken (or copy/paste them from the animation’s script), then drag the words on top of the sound’s waveform until they line up with the proper sounds.

After syncing up mouth shapes with actual sounds, Papagayo can then export the result for use with Moho, our 2D animation product. Papagayo can also be used with Blender, an open source 3D content-creation program.

Papagayo is free to download and use. Sync ’till your virtual lips are sore! Papagayo is available for Windows, and Mac OS X. Download Papagayo below:
